TEMPERATURE EFFECTS ON THE V2O5 SURFACE PHONON-SPECTRUM

摘要
The surface phonon spectra of V//2O//5 are investigated by means of high resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy (HREELS). After characterization of the spectrum, measurements are performed as a function of temperature. In the range between 560 and 650 K the gain-to-loss intensity ratio shows a considerable deviation from the theoretical Boltzmann relation, indicating that an important change takes place in the sample. It is assumed that in this temperature region, the slightly distorted superstructure V//4O//9 is formed at the V//2O//5 surface by thermally induced oxygen loss.
