On December 13, 1993, the Office of Health Compliance Assistance of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) issued OSHA Instruction CPL 2-2.58. The subject of the Instruction is 29 CFR 1926.62, Lead Exposure in Construction: Interim Final Rule-Inspection and Compliance Procedures. This document, more popularly called a compliance directive (CD), is supposed to provide guidance for for uniform inspection and compliance to 29 CFR 1926.62. This article reviews the CD and some of its more salient points.
