A method of modeling the SO2 absorption into aqueous solutions containing sulfites was developed based on the film theory of gas absorption and the chemical-equilibrium treatment of chemical reactions. The general model equations were presented along with their ready-to-use versions and all necessary physicochemical parameters. The ability of the method to predict rates of absorption, enhancement factors and concentration profiles of -reagents was successfully demonstrated using the experimental cases of SO2 absorption selected from the literature.
