Conclusion on the peer review of the pesticide risk assessment of the active substance chromafenozide

The conclusions of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) following the peer review of the initial risk assessments carried out by the competent authority of the rapporteur Member State Hungary, for the pesticide active substance chromafenozide are reported. The context of the peer review was that required by Commission Regulation (EU) No 188/2011. The conclusions were reached on the basis of the evaluation of the representative uses of chromafenozide as an insecticide on apples. The reliable endpoints concluded as being appropriate for use in regulatory risk assessment, derived from the available studies and literature in the dossier peer reviewed, are presented. Missing information identified as being required by the regulatory framework is listed. Concerns were identified that: the risk assessment for non-target lepidopteran species in the off-crop area from the active substance and the risk assessment for sediment dwelling organisms from a metabolite could not be finalised, the technical specification proposed was not considered comparable to the material tested in the ecotoxicological studies, the parametric drinking water limit of 0.1 mu g/L was exceeded in eight out of nine FOCUS groundwater scenarios for the active substance chromafenozide and the groundwater exposure assessment could not be finalised for two metabolites. c European Food Safety Authority, 2013
