ANALYSIS OF TANNIN EXTRACTS AFTER ACID-HYDROLYSIS FROM EUCALYPTUS BARK BY GAS-PHASE CHROMATOGRAPHY WITH MASS-SPECTROMETRY (GC MS)

摘要
In this work we have analysed by GC-MS the tannin extracts after acid hydrolysis from the bark of four Moroccan Eucalyptus species. Glucose, arabinose and rhamnose were detected as glucosic compounds. We have also detected gallotannins, like gallic acid, ellagic acid, shikimic acid, pyrogallol, hexahydroxydiphenic acid and catechin. These compounds were identified by mass spectral analysis and co-injection of standard products. We found that shikimic acid and gallic acid were present in all the extracts in great amounts. The others were also present but in very low proportions.
