STATIC QUADRUPOLE POLARIZABILITIES OF NEGATIVE-IONS

Static quadrupole polarizabilities, alpha(p) and quadrupolar shielding factors, gamma(infinity), have been calculated for the negative ions B-, C-, O- and F- in their ground and valence excited states using Coupled Hartree-Fock (CHF) theory which includes correlation effects, partially. Most of the results are reported for the first time. Existing results for F-, only at the HF level or using local exchange potentials, are in conformity with our computed CHF values.
