INVESTIGATIONS OF THE CARBOTHERMAL REDUCTION-MECHANISM OF ALUMINUM-OXIDE IN GRAPHITE-FURNACE ATOMIC-ABSORPTION SPECTROMETRY

摘要
The formation of spikes on AAS signals has been studied. The spikes are produced during the carbothermal reduction of Al oxide in a graphite furnace. Different sample introduction techniques such as thermospray deposition and suspension, and solution introduction have been used to characterize the formation of spikes (peak characteristics, number and periodicity). The results are explained with respect to the model of carbothermal reduction of oxides in graphite atomizers. The distribution of the sample on the surface of the atomizer after drying governs the formation of the spikes. The presence of Al in the graphite furnace causes the appearance of induced spikes for other elements and also changes the peak characteristics. The spikes induced by Al are observed using normal analytical conditions. © 1990.
