NOVEL APPLICATION OF FINITE-SIZE-SCALING - A NUMERICAL STUDY OF THE 2-DIMENSIONAL XY-MODEL

We present a finite-size scaling technique which allows one to extract accurate thermodynamic values without using sufficiently large values of L required in the traditional direct Monte Carlo measurements. For the 2D XY model we extract thermodynamic values up to a correlation length congruent-to 250, the analysis of which shows some deviations from the analytical prediction based on the renormalization group equation.
