READING AND MULTIMODALITY: WORKING SENSES CONSTRUCTION IN THE GENRE CHARGE

This paper aims to demonstrate that in the course of reading, the senses production runs through verbal and nonverbal elements present in the textual surface; to discuss the concepts of text and reading; to introduce the types of knowledge that must be enabled to understand a text. We follow the theoretical assumptions of Bentes (2005), Cavalcante (2013), Koch (2002; 2010), Dionisio (2005), among others. It is noted that for the senses construction of text up against multimodal aspects/factors, it is necessary posture of articulating/joining the elements of verbal and non-verbal language, that is, of the verbal and visual level. We conclude that the charge text reader should be well-informed to understand and capture critical content, since the charge brings a lot of information. Besides humor, charge brings an opinion and makes clear to your readers what its message, which is to criticize a social situation.
