摘要
Photochemical excitation of several 3-hydroxy-2-methoxy-6-methoxymethyl benzophenones 2 efficiently provided the corresponding benzocyclobutenols 3, in a highly stereoselective manner. These compounds on hydrogenolysis and subsequent heating furnished trans-2-arylbenzocyclobutenol methyl ethers 6.
