摘要
Treatment performance of overland flow for total suspended solids (TSS), biological oxygen demand (BOD) and Organic N was analyzed through the film transfer model. Average water velocity was used as the key input parameter. At low velocity mass transfer from the bulk stream to the organic mat was diffusion limited, while surface kinetics controlled the upper limit on mass transfer. Rates of reduction were similar for TSS and BOD, slower for organic N and faster for heavy metals. Flow processes were also characterized by Reynolds and Damkohler numbers. The Damkohler number is the ratio of characteristic times of convection and reduction. Values ranged 1 to 6 for several studies reviewed.
