We report measurements of electrical conductivity, both d.c. and a.c., and photoconductivity for iodine doped and acid doped polydiheteroarylenemethines. The iodine form has a d.c. conductivity of 10(-3) S/cm and it is 3 to 4 orders of magnitude higher than the acid form. The iodine form has a stable a.c. behaviour up to 10(7) Hz showing a nearly band transport process whereas the acid form showed a hopping transport system behaviour. The photoconductivity quantum yield goes from 10(-5) % for the acid form to 1 % for the iodine form at 10 V.
