The complexity of today's industrial application software, and the distributed nature of those industries is placing an increasing demand on both local and wide area networks. It is essential therefore that the network service requirements of such industries are investigated and specified, to ensure that the evolving broadband networks will meet their needs. This paper presents and describes the service requirements of the automotive industry as identified by RACE project CAR.
