摘要
Among several Bosnian-Herzegovinian periodicals published in late 19th and early 20th century (Bosanski prijatelj, Barjaktar, Zora, Bosnjak, Vatan, Behar, Bosanska vila, Trebevic, Srbobran, Neretljan), Nada primarily stood out as "an illustrated magazine". Nada was started by Benjamin Kalaj and Kosta Horman, who was the editor-in-chief of the newspaper. It was published without an interruption for nine years, from 1895 to 1903. The fact that it was an illustrated magazine implied several important facts in the literary and artistic life and culture of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the time, primarily the material assets required for the publication of such an illustrated magazine; then the syncretic presentation of "words and images", i.e. the functional connection between the two types of art that did not have a long tradition in the Bosnian-Herzegovinian culture, and finally the expansion of the areas of action and importance of art in the society. Although the insistence on engaged and didactic texts occasionally implied the dogmatic attitude of the regime, in its overall program Nada aimed at the modern and current democratic and liberal tendencies in Europe at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. It reflected the important events of his time and also influenced the literary, artistic, cultural and political life of the "Yugoslav" nations. This is testified by the public assessments of S. S. Kranjcevic, M. Marjanovic, A. Tresic, J. Milakovic, N. Ostojic, as well as by the reviews published in Svjetlo, Bosnjak, Glas Hercegovaca, Dubrovnik, Brankovo Kolo, Srpski pregled and other newspapers.
