摘要
The finite-amplitude helical mode is investigated for a semiconductor plasma. The radial density distribution of the semiconductor plasma column is calculated in the absence of the helical instability. A finite-amplitude helical plasma configuration is superimposed on the steady-state plasma distribution and the conditions for marginal stability are determined. The parameters describing the helical instability are calculated as functions of the amplitude of the superimposed helix. These results are combined with the energy-balance theory for the semiconductor plasma. The wavelength and frequency are calculated as functions of the magnetic field for a constant current in n-InSb. © 1969 The American Physical Society.
