INTERACTION EFFECTS AMONG CERTAIN EXPERIMENTER AND SUBJECT CHARACTERISTICS ON A PROJECTIVE TEST

Assessed the influence of personality characteristics of Es and Ss on responses of Ss in a projective testing situation. The projective test utilized was Heath's Phrase Association Test (PT). 16 male Es and 160 male and female Ss were preselected on scale dimensions of behavioral hostility and anxiety about hostility. After taking the PT as part of their training procedure, Es administered this test to their respective Ss. Manifestations of anxiety elicited by the hostile phrases on the PT were then related to behavioral hostility and anxiety about hostility for Es and Ss. Behavioral hostility of an S was found to be associated with the S's sex. E's disturbance on hostile phrases on the PT was related to behavioral hostility of E and to S's disturbance on hostile phrases. (24 ref.)
