摘要
The nonlinear, partial differential equations defining free convection boundary-layer flow along a vertical, flat, subliming, nonreacting surface were solved by means of a similarity transformation and a numerical method of asymptotic iteration through the boundary layer. The ambient temperature and pressure were varied to observe the resulting effect on the Nusselt and Sherwood numbers. Particular interest was directed to the effect of the pressure ratio ( P∞ Pbw) near regions of flow instability caused by the interaction of buoyancy and gravitational forces in the boundary layer. The results indicated that the ambient pressure can have a significant effect on convective heat and mass transfer in certain, well defined regions. © 1968.
