摘要
For the realization of a Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell (MCFC) power generation plant, it is necessary to operate MCFC under pressurized condition in order to achieve high efficiency and low cost. We have found that the improvement of performance by pressurized operation is saturated at a higher pressure. In this report, we describe the cause of the saturation in the improvement of performance at a higher pressure. (1) The cause of the saturation is the consumption of hydrogen in the fuel gas by generated methane. (2) For the suppression of methanation, it is useful to add nitrogen or steam to the fuel gas. The performance of MCFC in the pressurized operation can be improved if methanation is suppressed.
