Since very little information has been published on the use of creativity generation techniques in information systems organizations, four IS professionals decided to introduce to IS some of the techniques proven successful in other disciplines. The following article describes the program successfully introduced at United Technologies Microelectronics Center, then generalizes the approach to show its value in any IS organization. The program at UTMC proved quite successful. The quantity and quality of ideas generated by the systems development group has improved and, more important (yet less tangible), a creative environment has been put in place. The group is more cohesive, more open to ideas and more supportive of colleagues' ideas.
