摘要
Historical studies of books and libraries in Venezuela have been approached with great interest by researchers since the early twentieth century, however, the same could not be considered extensive or systematic, at least from a historiographical perspective. In this regard, it is necessary to undertake research for the purpose of generating new contributions in this field, which is why this article explains from a historical-cultural perspective the importance of libraries understood as places of the word; that is to say, cultural spaces where the author-book-reader relationship develops, as exemplified by the library services of the University of Los Andes (Merida-Venezuela), which, from its beginnings to the present, represent one of the most important repositories bibliohemerograficos from the country.
