The ecological crisis, and particularly global warming, are becoming, very quickly, a major threat for humanity. The capitalist solutions being proposed - eg the Kyoto agreements - are utterly unable to confront the issue. Eco-socialism proposes a radical alternative, a change in the paradigm of civilisation, overcoming the destructive logic of capitalist accumulation and transforming the established patterns of production and consumption. The struggle for such an alternative begins here and now, in all mobilisations that point towards an ecological sustainable future; the Global Justice movement is one of the main forces engaged in this struggle, bringing together, as in the initiatives of the Brazilian Landless Movement, the social and the environmental demands.
