PHOTODISSOCIATION OF CF2CL2 AT 193 NM INVESTIGATED BY PHOTOFRAGMENT TRANSLATIONAL SPECTROSCOPY

摘要
Polarized laser photodissociation of CF2Cl2 at 193 nm, investigated by the TOF, crossed-laser molecular-beam method, is shown to result exclusively in the decay to CF2Cl + Cl in which CF2Cl is Stable. The average fragment translational energy is 34 kcal/mol (47%E(avl)) corresponding to an internal energy of CF2Cl of 38 kcal/mol (53% E(avl)). The recoil anisotropy parameter beta = 0.65 +/- 0.1, which implies a transition dipole moment mu in the parent molecule parallel to the line connecting the two chlorine atoms and hence an initially excited state of B1 symmetry.
