Descriptions of advantages of hot melt adhesives over other types in various applications is followed by presentation of polyamides obtained by polycondensation of diacids with diamines that have been specified for hot melt formulations designed for ″tailored″ applications. Desirable properties not available in other thermoplastics adhesives are due to the highly polar groups in polymer chain which give interchain hydrogen bonding in high polymer strength at low molecular weights. These properties are tabulated.
