摘要
Electromechanical circuit breakers and switches have shortcomings. They cannot synchronize at the instant of circuit connections, nor are they able to clear a fault within the timescale of a few cycles or even seconds. They need regular maintenance and have disadvantages typical of mechanical devices. With the development of high-power thyristors, it is possible to use them in place of some types of electromechanical switches and contactors. A solid-state ac circuit breaker comprising a triac and its specially designed control circuit is described.
