CROSSING-SYMMETRY CONSTRAINTS ON PARTIAL-WAVE AMPLITUDES AND THEIR PHYSICAL CONTENT

A very simple derivation of a complete set of sum rules implied by crossing symmetry on partial-wave amplitudes is given. This set is shown to be equivalent to the Balachandran-Nuyts crossing relations for partial-wave amplitudes. Many applications to dynamical models are proposed and discussed, and it is shown in particular that the Padé treatment of the λφ{symbol} 4 theory for ππ scattering yields extremely good agreement with crossing symmetry. © 1969 Società Italiana di Fisica.
