摘要
The influence of the nature of diene in EPDM, i.e., dicyclopentadiene (DCPD), ethylidene norbornene (ENB) and 1,4-hexadiene (HD) at similar levels of ethylene to propylene ratio and unsaturation on the properties of silicone-EPDM blends had been investigated The blends showed a synergistic effect in the physico-mechanical properties. The ageing behaviour of the EPDMs and their blends revealed that the cyclic dienes in EPDMs offered improved ageing resistance through an oxygen trapping mechanism accompanied by ring scission. Dynamic mechanical analysis indicated the incompatible nature of the blends and varying extents of mobile chain segments.
