摘要
Drillings from the Cleveland Basin (Yorkshire, G.B.) show that the sediments from the Kimmeridge Clay Formation have a cyclically-fluctuating organic content. Here we concentrate upon one organic carbon cycle using samples collected at a centimetric scale. The study of trace-element contents, together with IR spectroscopy of kerogens indicate that C(org) fluctuations are due to variation in the biological production rather than marine environment modifications.
