Many methods for evaluating the severity of pancreatitis have been described over the last ten years. Their purpose is to differentiate benign forms with a spontaneously favorable outcome and severe forms with a high risk of complications. The two types of methods used for the prognostic evaluation of pancreatitis are bioclinical tests (both specific and non-specific) and CT scan imaging. These methods allow to predict the outcome in each individual case but also to evaluate new treatments and monitoring techniques in homogeneous groups of patients.
