ATTENTION AS A MEDIATOR BETWEEN CREATIVE THINKING AND INFORMATION PROCESSING

摘要：

We hypothesized that differential focusing of attention mediates the relationship between creative thinking and amount and accuracy of information processing. Supporting our predictions, we found that the greater a person's creative thinking the information processing was more accurate but its amount did not change on a task not involving interference (a focused attention), but the information processing was less accurate and its amount augmented on a task requiring interfering information (a defocused attention). Our results support both the theory of creativity of Martindale and Eysenck but regarding to different measures.
