摘要
The relationship between category and successive intervals scales should be curvilinear according to recent theoretical developments. 2 scaling studies, 1 dealing with rating statements and 1 with stimulus objects, found linear relations between these 2 types of measures. 44 undergraduates were Ss. Linearity was explained in terms of the method of successive intervals analysis employed and in terms of dispersions for rating statements and stimulus objects. The meaning of these results for measurement theory and for methods of data analysis is discussed.
