摘要
In addition to transmitting power, high-voltage lines are also highly suitable for transmitting communication signals - both voice and data signals. Accurate methods of calculating the propagation of carrier signals in the multiconductor systems of high-voltage lines are based on the theory of modal analysis, i. e. on eigenvalue analysis of the complex voltage transmission matrix. This article first presents the principles of modal analysis. Application of the results of modal analysis are discussed for the homogeneous, horizontal three-phase line. Topics considered include modal cancellation with nonoptimal coupling in transposed lines, the effects of earth faults on carrier signal transmission and also the corona noise level.
