摘要
Several analar grade carbohydrates and by-products of agro-food industry from starch processing were used as main sources of carbon and nitrogen for glucose oxidase and catalase from Penicillium amagasakiense ATCC 28686. The simultaneous production of both enzymes was carried out in liquid culture medium at constant pH, temperature and agitation, it was found that at a constant pH 5.5, glucose was the preferential carbon source for production of both enzymes. Several food grade syrups and other by-products of agro-industry were used as cheap carbon sources. Catalase activity increased iy six-fold when P. amagasakiense was grown in a fresh broth containing 1% (v/v) of H2O2. Purified preparation of glucose oxidase free of catalase activity was used in a kit for determination of blood glucose. The results obtained with this kit were in agreement with those from the commercial kits.
