STUDIES ON THE FORMATION OF MIXED-LIGAND COMPLEXES OF COBALT(II) WITH AMMONIA AND SOME BARBITURATES

The formation of the mixed-ligand complexes of Co(II) with ammonia and selected barbiturates has been investigated via spectrophotometric procedures. Magnetic susceptibility measurements indicated that redox reaction does not occur during the process of complexation. The formation constants of the mixed-ligand complexes were calculated by extrapolation methods and as a prerequist the formation constants of the species Co(NH3)n2+ where n = 1-6 were determined by potentiometric methods. Analytical application of the formation of the mixed complex as a method of barbiturates determination has been discussed. © 1979.
