The Self-Representation of a Romantic Subject: Mi Vida Privada, by Juan Bautista Alberdi

when Juan Bautista Alberdi was around 60 years old, he wrote an autobiography entitled Mi vida privada, que se pasa toda en la Republica Argentina. In this short text he reviewed his life trajectory and dedicated some pages to reflect on his intellectual education, to justify some political decisions and to remember his protagonism in significant cultural institutions of the first half of the 19th Century. The purpose of this work is to analyze the discursive construction of self-representation as romantic subject that Alberdi proposed. We will linger basically on some memories of his student life.
