Growing away from home. Mothers and children facing poverty in the Buenos Aires countryside

From a regional and gender perspective, this article seeks to address the complaints filed with the Children's ombudsman of several localities in the central and southeast areas of the province of Buenos Aires by poor women, mostly mothers of several children. The objective is to explore the way in which these mothers turned to the state authorities for child services, represented by the local Ombudsman in each area, and even to the Public Defender General of the province, as well as the tactics in play at the time of doing so.
