摘要
A new image compression technique that uses what has been termed the ''standard wavelet representation'' of a function is presented. We show that this representation of an image leads to a subdivision of the frequency domain that is well structured and has smaller divisions than the ''nonstandard wavelet representation'' (multiscale decomposition) of a function. This allows for a more judicious selection of frequency information that may lead to better compression characteristics.
