Polyester films are mainly used as backings for silicone coatings (PSA, release coatings...) The aim of this work was to study the effect of the organisation stale of the polyester on the adhesive properties of a silicone coating. Two complementary approaches were developed, a theoretical one where molecular adhesion is described with computer modelling method and, an experimental one where the adhesion on polyester is caracterized by a peeling test. The computer modelling approach predicts a higher interaction of the coating on the amorphous rather than on the crystalline polyester. This is also confirmed by experiment. The effect of the degree of crosslinking of the silicone network is also studied.
