摘要:
The recently discovered Chengjiang fossil fauna from the Lower Cambrian near Kunming in south China is paralleled only by the Middle Cambrian Burgess Shale fauna in British Columbia in its excellent state of preservation, even of animals without hard skeletons. Modern phyla already existed in the Chengjiang fauna, although they were represented by primitive forms. This fauna exhibits life when coelomate (having a body cavity) animals first evolved and began to proliferate and to form skeletons.
