摘要：

With the conclusion of the Royal Society expedition to Aldabra, research on this hitherto little known elevated atoll in the southwest Indian Ocean enters a new phase, and it is timely to consider the results achieved so far and the long-term plans for further scientific work. The results of the first eight months of the expedition were the subject of a discussion meeting at the Royal Society on March 13 and 14. © 1969 Nature Publishing Group.
