摘要：

The aim of this paper is to analyze a set of filmic representations of the Caribbean, ranging from classic American cinema to contemporary ethnographic documentary. The main idea of the text is that there is an evolution in Caribbean images from the exoticism of the first half of xx century to the present situation, marked by a heterogeneous set of productions, which, by diversifying audiovisual authorship, provide new perspectives and discourses on the social and cultural reality of the region.
