摘要
A novel circuit design for a pattern generator is presented. In the proposed circuit the generated data, the bit rate as well as the word length (number of bits), are digitally programmed. The circuit is designed to be TTL compatible and was realized using a VCO, a binary counter, a decoder, a MUX and a small number of logic gates. The operation of the circuit is based on the conversion of the digitally programmed data to a serial outgoing one at a bit rate that is predetermined by the VCO. The programming of the data could be carried out either by the utilization of a microprocessor or simple ON/OFF switches. The circuit has been implemented and successfully tested for different data at different bit rates and word lengths.
