Soil-water characteristic curve for unsaturated loess considering temperature and density effect

摘要
Soil-water characteristic curve for unsaturated loess considering temperature and density effect is studied by test. The test data show that the variation of soil density, compared with variation of soil temperature, can result in great change of soil-water characteristic curve. For loess sample in certain water content, the change of matrix suction resulting from variation of soil temperature is less in bigger water content, and is more in lower water content. The more is the variation of soil temperature, the more is the change of matrix suction. After analyzing the test data, taking the soil density and temperature into account, the formula is obtained to determine the matrix suction of unsaturated loess. The test and calculated data verify the reliability of the formula.
