NUCLEAR SPIN-LATTICE RELAXATION IN SOME PURE LIQUIDS

摘要：

The measurements of proton spin-lattice relaxation time T1 have been carried out in pure samples of CH2Br2 and CH 2I2 between 0-100°C. The results are compared with Bloembergen, Purcell, and Pound (BPP) theory modified to include the effect of the interaction between nonidentical spins. The results show that intramolecular interaction is predominant in causing relaxation in both liquids. The experimental results are in good agreement with the modified BPP theory for CH2Br2, but not for CH2I2. This discrepancy for CH2I2 could be due to the failure of the simplified model of molecular motion.
