MOSSBAUER AND X-RAY-DIFFRACTION STUDIES OF AN ALLOTROPIC FORM OF TIN, ALPHA-2-SN

摘要
The formation of alpha2-Sn has been investigated by Sn-119 Mossbauer spectroscopy and X-ray powder diffraction. The alpha2-Sn form obtained in reduction of SnCl2 ethanol solution indicates the isomer shift delta = - 3.9 +/- 0.1 mm/s relative to CaSnO3 and no quadrupole splitting. The XRD patterns suggest that two types of alpha2-Sn forms exist with different lattice parameters of a = 6.06 angstrom and 5.65 angstrom, and contain some impurities in their crystal lattices.
