TOXINOGENICITY AND PHAGE TYPING OF SALMONELLA-TYPHIMURIUM STRAINS

摘要
Toxic activity of culture filtrates as well as homogenates of cells prepared from 44 bacterial strains of S. typhimurium isolated from patients suffering from diarrhea was examined. At the same time we ascertained the phage type of tested bacterial strains. Phage typing of S. typhimurium strains enabled to classify them as phage types 2b, 2c, 1, 1a, others as strains not typable and strain with atypical lytic reactions. The 2b phage type from which 13.6 % of strains produced heat-labile enterotoxin occurred most frequently (50 %). This type of enterotoxin was also produced by 1 strain from the not typable group of strains. Strains of all mentioned groups produced delayed permeability factor. No tested material contained heat-stable enterotoxin.
