Thermomagnetic recording is studied by a real-time simulation involving magnetization reversal according to the balance between magnetic forces based on evolutive temperature distribution. Detailed time evolutions of magnetic forces and reversed regions are obtained. Coincidences between the envelope of a definite isotherm and the contour of the reversed magnetizations have been found during the recording processes under all conditions studied. As for the final recorded mark, good correspondences between the simulated results and the experimental observations are achieved, namely sparse domains and a single full one are obtained for weak and strong external fields, respectively. The contour of recorded marks changes from tear-drop like to symmetric as the linear velocity increases.
