Analysis of the user's needs and the usage context is essential for the design of both usable and useful integrated broadband communications (IBC) services. This paper describes the human factors work undertaken by BT Laboratories for two RACE I projects to provide user-centred methods and tools for defining future IBC services and ensuring their usability.
