摘要
Molybdenum electrodeposition and -dissolution was studied in molten chlorides with different cation combinations. The ranges of temperature and current density were established within which one can obtain compact, columnar molybdenum coatings. Passivation of the anode by solid electrochemical reaction products was detected in NaCl-KCl-CsCl-MoCl3 electrolytes. In NaCl-KCl-MgCl2-MoCl3 melts at high MoCl3 concentrations, a lower-valent salt is deposited on the cathode together with molybdenum.
