摘要
An adiabatic shear band produced by the impact of a cylindrical projectile on a target of commercial purity titanium was observed. The localized deformation regime within the band requires a temperature-strain threshold to become operative. Calculations suggest that the microcrystalline structure is formed during the shear band propagation stage. A simple model for plastic deformation in the shear band is proposed.
