RAPID METHOD OF STUDYING THE SUBSTRATE SELECTIVITY OF THE GAS-PHASE REACTION OF SATURATED-HYDROCARBONS WITH CL ATOMS AT 25-DEGREES-C

摘要
A simple, kinetic, competitive method similar to the method previously use for reactions in solutions was proposed for studying the substrate selectivity (SS) of gas-phase chlorination of saturated hydrocarbons, RH + Cl.. The SS for the reaction is determined with the scheme GRAPHICS (photoinitiation with sunlight, 25-degrees-C) as the ratio of the first-order rate constants of the decrease in simultaneously reacting substrates R1H and R2H from the reactor gas phase. The SS were measured for n-pentane (1.8), n-hexane (2.3),2-methylpentane (2.2), cyclohexane (2.2), and cyclohexane-d12 (1.6) relative to propane.
